Brooklyn Anna Update
January 27, 2009 by Lisa Beth
Just thought I’d update everyone a little on Brooklyn’s status. Currently, she still lives in the NICU, instead of in our room at the hospital. We are going home on Thursday and hope that she’ll be able to bunk with us tomorrow, but apparently mums the word around here ‘cuz we haven’t heard yet when she’ll be released.
She was weaned off her oxygen this morning around 6 am and is breathing room air, which is a step in the right direction. Chris and I were finally able to hold her about noon today. I, of course, bawled my eyes out. She is already over a day old and I hadn’t yet to snuggle with her – so the emotions kinda came flooding in. I also got to change my first diaper which was filled with her first poop. Lucky me!
We are hoping to hear from the pediatrician yet today so I’ll keep everyone posted. In the mean time, I posted some more pics for everyone to oogle at! The pics of her where it looks like her head is in a spaceship are when she was getting oxygen. They call it an “oxihood” I believe, which is why we were unable to hold her until she was off the oxygen.
UPDATE as of 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday – Brooklyn is out of the NICU unit and is safely in the room with mommy feeding!

Keith and I got to hold baby Brooklyn lots this morning and she is as sweet as she is cute! We are all so blessed and I can’t think of any two people better to co-grandparent with than Mike and Ruth! How did we get so lucky?
As of her third day, Brooklyn has a full wardrobe of (mostly pink) darling clothes, including her first handbag — pink, of course with little rosebuds covering the front!!
