Climbing, crawling…..walking, running?
November 21, 2009 by Lisa Beth
Well, my little girl is MOVING. Not quite walking and running yet, but I sense that it is coming sooner than later. Wyatt didn’t start walking until he was around 13 months. I don’t think I have this long with little Brooklyn. She has mastered pulling up, has started scaling the furniture and even managed to climb a flight of stairs last weekend. I caught her before she tumbled to her death, so it’s all good.

There she is tyring her darndest to reach something on the kitchen counter. She has a little ways to go, as our counters are rather high, but I have subconsciously started moving thing further away from the edges now. Especially on my computer desk. This one she can reach.
This morning I turned around for a second to help Wyatt and when I looked back, there was Brooklyn, straddling the dog water dish. Before I could reach her, she dumped the entire thing all over herself and thought this was great fun. Yipee! Dog water! It’s cold! And germy! FUN!

I think Wyatt is fearful that everytime Brooklyn starts to climb something she is going to get hurt, because he is always gently setting her down, like above. He’s more nervous about it than I am apparently. He still loves his baby sister to death and it shows. He loves that she is more interactive with him now, and every once and a while I hear a “NO BROOKIE, THAT’S MY TOY!”, but it’s more the exception than the rule. I usually just remind him that when we have baby sisters we need to share our toys sometimes. He always responds quite well to this. Which kind of surprises me, he wasn’t huge on sharing in the past. I truely hope they will be great friends, and I think they will. I am not dumb enough to think that there won’t be conflict now and again, but Wyatt has such a big heart I really do think the two of them are going to be best buds growing up.
