Green Bay Land

September 20, 2009 by Lisa Beth

I think I may have finally recovered from our vacation to Green Bay.  Brooklyn and I returned home on Tuesday and my suitcase was actually unpacked by Thursday night. It’s a record for me!  Chris has been finishing up the laundry that accumulates on vacation this weekend and now all I have left to do is get to the store so I can feed my children some normal food again.

Here’s a summary of our time away:

Thursday: Brooklyn and I leave on our first plane ride. (You can read about our travel experience here.) We arrive in Green Bay mid-afternoon, relax the rest of the day with our friends Sadie and Jeff, and their two new babies, Isabel and Everett.

Friday: FORE ANNA’S SAKE Golf Outing.  I was truly overwhelmed how many people came out to support the Johnsen’s awesome charity.  I had to keep my sunglasses a lot so people wouldn’t see the tears in my eyes most of the day.  The annual golf tourney benefits local charities such as the Ronald McDonald House of Wisconsin and the For Anna’s Sake Program.  Last years event raised over $16,000. The golf outing and charity are both named in honor of Sadie and Jeff’s daughter Anna Hazel Johnsen, who passed away November 26th, 2007 after a 9 week stay in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) at Aurora BayCare Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. This is who Brooklyn Anna is named after so it was awesome to be a part of it this year and I can’t wait to go again next year.

Saturday: Chris flew out to Green bay for the weekend, but booked his flight to Milwaukee by mistake, so he had to rent a car and drive. Oops. We had a relaxing day spent with family and friends of the Johnsen’s.

Sunday: Isabel and Everett’s baptism.  Our new goddaughter, Isabel, looked beautiful. The twins did great during the church service.  I had to remove Brooklyn a few times due to her, um, loudness.  I thought she was going to make it through the last 15 minutes when I discovered that she pooped all the way up her tights which had to be thrown away in the church bathroom.  Maybe this is what she was trying to tell me all morning….

Sunday, cont: Sadie and Jeff got us tickets to the opening game at Lambau. Packers vs the Bears.  Chris being the crazy Vikings fan that he is thought it would be a good time if we wore some purple Brett Favre jerseys to the game. Against my better judgment (thanks to a few brewskies) I agreed.  Ugh.  What a mistake.  But the game was fun anyway. PACKER’S FANS ARE CRAZY!!!!!

Monday: Chris drove back to Milwaukee to fly back home and Sadie and I packed up all three kids and drove to Milwaukee ourselves to see my aunt and cousins for the afternoon. We had a three hour lunch at PF Changs. (Dear PF Changs: How I love you. Please consider opening a location somewhere in North Dakota. I will be a loyal customer.)

Tuesday: Time to get packed up and get back to real life!  My suitcase was much heavier on the way home, due to some shopping escapades on our way home from Milwaulkee on Monday. The airline wanted to charge me an extra $90 for my 54 pound bag.  I crammed some more stuff into my carryon instead.  Our flight home needs not to be mentioned on this website again.

I’m jealous of the opening game tix – notsomuch jealous of your jersey choice :) I’d've just gone with a #80 jersey when I was in Rome …
