Ice Jam 2009 Update

Well the river has dropped back two feet now, so apparently our “bombing” efforts were successful. Bismarck brought in a demolition team to assess the ice jams and plant explosives. I watched the video and it made the fountain at the Belagio in Vegas look small. (I posted a video of the blasts on our main home page if you care to watch). The Missouri River received two large enemas (as quoted by Allen Miller on our local news). What a way to say it!
People are being let back into their homes here, and I’ve heard the damage is less than predicted, so that is good news. Unfortunately, Fargo appears to be in worse shape than predicted with their flood fight. We postponed plans of traveling there, we had hoped to go and help in their flood fight, but it is too dangerous to bring the kids. I’m not even sure if they would let us in at this point. Our thoughts and prayers go to our family and friends in the Fargo/Moorhead area!
