Long Lost Relatives
June 30, 2009 by Lisa Beth
As we were digging through pictures of Grandma for her memory board, I realized which side of the family I got my love for pictures and photography – MY MOMS! I knew Grandpa Serck always had a camera hanging around his neck, but I had NO IDEA the obsession we share carried back many, many generations. The amount of black and white, old photos we came across was amazing – what a great look into the past. My great-grandfather even wrote an entire family history book for each of his grandchildren and great-grandkids (including me) that I was fascinated to sit down and read. He wrote it when he was 93 years old, and I couldn’t believe the detail it included (like how much he payed for sheep and a tractor in 1922 – seriously).
So as we were digging, we came across some old, old, old photos. Like 1800′s photos. I’d like to introduce you to my great-great-great-great grandfather, Andreas Bosler (born 9/21/1836, died 9/1/1890) – there may even be some more “greats” that I am leaving out, it’s hard to go back that far….

And my great-great-great-great grandmother, Catharina (Kuchel) Bosler (born 5/21/1832, died 4/19/1901)

Can you believe this????? These are REAL PICTURES PEOPLE. Of my relatives from the 1800′s! Apparently we got better looking with each generation. OK – so they kinda look like the characters from the Adam’s Family, but I’m pretty sure this is how everyone looked back then. But seriously, how many people can say they have pictures of their great-great-great-great grandparents? ME!
Love it, Love it, LOVE IT!

You can just tell that she was a lot of fun out on the town, and he looks like a character that Phil Hartman used to play on SNL! I wonder what they were like…
