The Cage…..It’s BAAAAACCCCKK!

I often read questions online like, What do I do with my active baby/toddler when I want to take a shower? Or do dishes? Or start dinner? The answer is simple people. Get a cage.
Yes, a cage. Or a playpen. Whatever. As Brooklyn is now EVERYWHERE, I finally broke down and dug out the cage that we used when Wyatt was a baby. One night this week she managed to wedge herself under a dining room chair three times in the time it took us to eat dinner. Another night, I had her sitting in the hallway, playing with some toys while I bathed her brother in the bathtub. The dogs whined to go out, I ran to the patio, opened the door, shut the door and returned to the bathroom to find Brooklyn had crawled in there and was splashing around in the toilet water. What? How do you move so quickly little girl? And yet, you choose NOT to learn to hold your our bottle. What is going on here? I know “the cage” sounds harsh, but it’s kind of what it is. And it’s wonderful.
The best part is, Wyatt wants to be in with her! Two for the price of one!
See? Look how much fun they are having. It’s all good.
One night this week, we had a meeting at our house with one of Chris’s business associates and as we were sitting around the dining room table we heard this scraping noise. Upon investigation, we saw Brooklyn crawling across the floor dragging a gun. A gun bigger than her by a long shot. Of course it was Wyatt’s camouflage NERF gun (NO WE DON’T KEEP REAL GUNS WHERE THE KIDS CAN PLAY WITH THEM), and the lady goes Oh. She’s got….a GUN! The way she said it was funny. Like it’s not normal to have realistic looking guns all over the house. The point being – the girl can MOVE. And fast. And while carrying a gun. Her dad is so proud.
