The Real Housewives of Burleigh County

Let me start out by saying that, no, I have not decided to quit my job. So fellow co-workers who read this, rest easy – I’ll be back.

But I do have to admit, the thought has crossed my mind during this maternity leave that staying home might not be so bad. Wyatt is at a wonderful age right now. He is so patient and kind to his baby sister, and the things that come out of his mouth keep us rolling on a daily basis. I can truly say I am enjoying my time at home. (I should also mention that Wyatt is in school 4 days a week, so it’s just me and the babe most days).  I have always told people that I could never be a stay at home mom ’cause I’d go stir crazy.  I will admit I do have to get out of the house at least 3 days during the week, but Chris is so good about watching the kids for me so I can have “me time”.  And some days I even venture out with the kids, and that’s not so bad either, I just have to pick and choose where our outings are a little more carefully. (ie: no 4 hour clothes shopping trips. Trips to the kids “play place” at the mall is more like it)

I have also started about a million different craft projects that should keep me busy for the next, oh, 7 years. Hopefully I will be able to finish a few of them during the next 8 weeks. Most of you that know me, know that I am a huge scrapbooker. I should probably own stock in some type of scrapbook product. What you may not know is that I used to quilt. About 5 years ago, I kind of got away from it, and have always wanted to pursue this again. So, this year for our anniversary and my 29th birthday, Chris got me a new sewing machine. This one is way nicer and has many more options than my old one (which I traded in a got a whopping $20 for).  I have big plans for this sewing machine, big plans I say. For you sewing junkies out there it is a PFAFF performance series. And here it is:

Stay at home mom

I spoke with my good friend Pam today, and she mentioned that  she was prepping for our monthly meeting tomorrow morning. I actually asked her what time it was at. Mind you, I have been attending these meetings for nearly 4 years now. They have always started at 10 am. Is my brain beginning to mush already? Or am I just pushing the thoughts of work far into the back of my brain? For the last 4 weeks now, I have had no responsibilities at work, just caring for Brooklyn at home. It’s been kinda nice.

Patty!!! I will second that… she definately could have gotten $50 at the “super-duper” garage sale! I can hear just hear you saying it! You are silly ;)

Are you planning to have a garage sale with us Bismarck gals again this year? Lisa and I talked about selling some of our crafts at the sale.

Well, I’ll be out there to help if at all possible. I don’t know how much I will have to contribute — I’ve been working and working to rid this household of all the extra “stuff” we have accumulated! This has come in very handy since we have had to carry a lot up from the basement and next level to the main level and upstairs in anticipation of the potential flooding.

I hear you have been hired by the nursing home in Mandan!! Congratulations!! The daytime hours will be much better for you….I don’t know how you did that with a baby and a two year old!!

Thanks for the Congrats Patty! I am super excited about my new position. It will be so nice to have regular hours. I am very excited to expand my nursing skills and dig into a new experience.

I hope you are staying dry in Fargo. I could not imagine going through that kind of disaster.
